In the present paper a new species of the genus Rhynchospora (sect. Pauciflorae, subsect. Plumoso- setosae) is described, and R. trichochaeta C.B. Clarke is lectotypified. In addition. new localities for R. subplumosa and R. trichochaeta are shown. Finally, a key of the species included in the subsection is presented.
