Wigandia brevistyla X. Cornejo is segregated here from W. pruritiva
Spreng. due to its characteristics. Very short styles, shorter corollas and a distinctive allopatric distribution, that is restricted to the central mountain range (Cordillera Central) in the Dominican Republic.
